Archery

Therapeutic Approach

Archery can be an exciting and challenging way to practice precision, patience, and regulation.

Learning or practicing a traditional skill can be empowering and reconnecting.

TRS staff uses metaphorical transference to prompt participants about how their experience in the field is applicable to their lives.

What to expect

Archery has a learning curve, but participants can expect to be given instruction and guidance with target practice and group games.

TRS has bows with different levels of tension, but drawing a bow repeatedly over a period of time does tend to cause some soreness in the arms, shoulders and/or fingers.

TRS uses recurve bows and hanging bags. Expect to be in an open area.

What you need to bring

Participants will want closed-toed shoes, clothes appropriate for the environment and weather conditions, and perhaps a hat or pair of sunglasses.

TRS will provide bows, arrows, targets, gloves, wrist guards, Nalgenes, rain gear, and a First Aid kit.
